“Somewhere someone is thinking of you. Someone is calling you an angel. This person is using celestial colors to paint your image. Someone is making you into a vision so beautiful that it can only live in the mind. Someone is thinking of the way your breath escapes your lips when you are touched. How your eyes close and your jaw tightens with concentration as you give pleasure a home. These thoughts are saving a life somewhere right now. In some airless apartment on a dark, urine stained, whore lined street, someone is calling out to you silently and you are answering without even being there. So crystalline. So pure. Such life saving power when you smile. You will never know how you have cauterized my wounds. So sad that we will never touch. How it hurts me to know that I will never be able to give you everything I have.”

Finally bought tickets for Hole tonight.  Bought two so I can make sure to have someone with me who will help me keep my cool as I will certainly be as hot as mess as Courtney has ever been; haven’t seen Hole in years (maybe since Music Midtown???).  stoked!

I posted this on the Project 365 blog, but thought it deserved the spotlight over here as well.  I sent a message to my friend Kathy, who made a major purchase of TR’s keyboard stand from LITS, last night to ask her if she got a little rush of nostalgia every time she sees the damned thing —- I know I do.  So stoked I opted to buy.  ;)

Day 102: 5/13/10
Today I got the most rad thing in the mail —- well, not in the mail, per se, but on my porch —- a real deal piece of the Nine Inch Nails touring rig!

Ronnie James Dio has reportedly lost his battle with cancer.
From Metal Underground:
Ronnie James Dio (born Ronald James Padavona) has sadly passed away from his battle with stomach cancer. He was 67 years old. Dio made a name for himself when he fronted the Ritchie Blackmore led band Rainbow, who released their first album in 1975. After leaving Rainbow, Dio was asked to replace Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath, to which he agreed. With Black Sabbath, he recorded two highly acclaimed studio albums in the form of “Heaven And Hell” and “The Mob Rules.” After leaving Black Sabbath, he formed his own self-titled band and became one of the biggest draws in heavy metal during the 1980s.
Dio briefly reunited with Black Sabbath in the early 1990s, releasing the “Dehumanizer” album before leaving once again to concentrate on his own band. Another reunion with Sabbath followed in 2006, this time under the new moniker, Heaven & Hell, reulting the acclaimed album, “The Devil You Know” in 2009. The band recently cancelled their tour dates in Europe as a result of Ronnie’s health.

EDITED TO INCLUDE:
This just in: that shit was hoax.  According to Dio’s twitter account, he is still alive and kickin’.  Glad to hear it.

EDITED (AGAIN) TO INCLUDE:
Looks like the sad news was, in fact, correct.  Dio has died.
From ATLMetal.com:
“Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45 a.m. [on Sunday] 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private goodbyes before he peacefully passed away.
“Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all.
“We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us.
“Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss.
“Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.”

I’m watching “Stones in Exile” on Fallon and searching the net for that old (2001-ish) sketch of Jimmy doing Mick Jagger, “Mick & Mick.”  The one that’s got the sit and go with the go and be, yeah, man.  No, no, no, there’s no man on there, man.  It’s a classic.  You know the one?  Yeah, the one in the mirror.  Can anyone help me track that thing down??

Just wanted to put the word out for those in Atlanta hoping to take a stand against Arizona’s recent [read: ludicrous, outrageous, unconstitutional, racist, ethnocentric, shameful] law allowing law enforcement to stop, at random and without cause, any person who they believe may be undocumented based on profiling for search/arrest, that there will be a rally tomorrow.
Here’s the info I received:
BOYCOTT ARIZONA!  Don’t Play Ball with the State of Hate!

Join us on SATURDAY, May 15th at 6:00pm for a ”pep” rally outside Turner Field at the Braves vs. Arizona Diamonbacks game!

Arizona’s SB 1070 is an Apartheid law like something out of the Jim Crow era. It is the latest and most severe attack on Latinos and immigrants.  When the Arizona Diamondbacks come to play the Atlanta Braves, join us in saying “we will not tolerate racist laws in Arizona, Georgia, or anywhere!”

Why we oppose SB 1070:

It legalizes racial profiling by requiring that police officers stop anyone “suspected” of being undocumented.
SB 1070 creates a police state where anyone can be arrested who cannot immediately show his/her proof of citizenship or  residency.
Conservative politicians throughout the country are making plans to pass similar laws in other states, including Georgia.  Don’t let the hate spread!
SB 1070 is an escalation of the ongoing criminalization of Black and immigrant communities throughout the country, through policies like discriminatory drug laws, and 287g and “secure communities.”

The Boycott:

Immigrant rights and anti-Racist activists around the country are protesting outside Diamondback games to call on Major League Baseball to move the 2011 All Star game and spring training out of Arizona.
The Diamondbacks are only one part of a larger boycott on Arizona, to put pressure on state politicians and President Obama to immediately intervene to repeal the law:  www.altoarizona.com.

Meet Outside of Turner Field Stadium at the corner of Washington St and Georgia Ave

10 Singers In Successful Bands (Who Really Aren't That Good) -

They’ve sold millions of albums worldwide. You can’t see a movie, watch a television show, or turn on the radio without hearing their music.

I’m not super into that whole Twilight phenomenon, but I am pretty into the Bravery and word on the street is that they will have a new track on the Eclipse Soundtrack [available June 8, 2010, Atlantic].  I’m stoked, given the fact that I was starting to wonder if these dudes were even still together.  After all, they have a fairly new album out (which is good by the way, nothing to hide from) and have done nothing to support it.  The last tour I saw them play was pre-release.  Get it together dudes, side projects are great, when they are done on the side of something else!
