Earlier tonight I was encouraged to check out a video of a live performance by the Bravery on YouTube. While I was pulling it up, a video I took a couple of years ago popped up in the queue. I just figured while it was on my mind, I would post it here as well.
This was a show that really stands out for me among concerts I have attended: It was at the Culture Room in Miami, me and my pals Mon and Caroline had more than our fair share of drinks (including pre-gaming it at the Wayward Sailor Pub), De Novo Dahl opened. Most importantly, the Bravery offered everything you could hope to see in a live band that night. I watched most of their set from onstage, so that should account for the weird angle in this video. Maybe it was the cocktails, but I was pretty stoked to be up close and personal with Mike Z on slide guitar that night —- I’m not afraid to admit that I was completely crushing on him at the time! haha
Now that he’s a married man, I have respectfully moved on, but think that I will always have a fondness for this particular set. Maybe it’s nostalgia for all of the fun times I had on all of those trips to Miami, maybe it’s missing hanging with my friend Monica, maybe it’s something entirely unrelated to any word beginning with the letter “M.” But there are some nights when you really feel like you were living, and this was one of them for me.
